Obverse

There are two obverses for this medal

1st – Head of Victoria and the legend ‘VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX’

2nd – King Edward VII and the legend ‘edwardvs vii rex imperatrix’

Reverse

A British soldier with a rifle and an Indian Sowar with sward, and both holding upright the Royal Standard and the word India appears both verions to the left but the date ‘1985’ appears only on the Victorian awards.

Naming

Most medals are found engraved in running script however, other styles have been encountered

Comments

Edward VII medals issued are slightly thinner than Victoria medals. Combatant troops were given the medal in silver and native bearers and servants in bronze version.
