Head of King Edward VII and inscription ‘EDWARDVS VII IMPERATOR’

Reverse

Britannia with a flag in her left hand and holding out a laurel wreath towards an advancing party of soldiers. In the back ground two men of war ships, around the top are the words ‘SOUTH AFRICA.’

Comments

The King`s medal is always accompanied by the Queen`s medal. The medal also generally has the two clasps listed above but some very rare issues had only the `SOUTH AFRICA 1902’ clasp (although regulations stated it must have both) while others to nursing sisters had none.
